Anderson talks about Monica Abbott announcing her retirement from
softball and her impact on the game. He reflects on his first time
seeing Abbott in college and her remarkable numbers while in
Tennessee. We play back thoughts on Monica from her college
catcher, Syracuse Head Coach Shannon Doepking, and Ralph & Karen
Weekly in Throwback Thursday.
Afterward, we head to Montgomery, Alabama, to chat with
Alabama State Head Coach Todd Bradley. Coach previews this year's
HBCU Celebration Softball Tournament and shares news about next
year's event, which will excite HBCU Softball fans. He talks about
his program and the changes made to the SWAC schedule and paying
with a chip on their shoulder after falling to Prairie View in last
year's SWAC Championship.
We then head to Division III and welcome Belhaven Head Coach
Kevin Griffin to the show. The Blazers enter 2023 with high
expectations after making it to Super Regionals last year. Coach
Griffin talks about moving to a new conference, their brutal
schedule, the reason behind it, and the keys to setting up a
winning culture at the D3 level.
